Mantel Stocking Hanger
This stocking hanger lets you hang a stocking anywhere without damaging the mantel, a bracket slips over the mantel shelf and the weight of the stocking holds it in place.

Assembly
Select an image with an area of about 4" high in the center of it, you may have to resize the image with a graphics program. The image we used is available here:

Print the image on matte photo paper and glue it to a 1/8" to 1/4" thick plywood panel.

While the glue is drying proceed to the next step.

Make a U shaped mounting bracket, start by cutting out a rectangle 3 1/2" wide and 1 1/2" inches plus the thickness of the mantel high, (usually 4") from 1/2" thick MDF or plywood.

Mark off the rectangle as shown, drill the 1/2" diameter hole first then make the cuts.

When the glue has dried on the paper image cut it out with a scroll saw following the outside lines of the figure.

Glue the mounting bracket to the back of the figure, with the short leg on the bottom.

Hang a stocking on the bottom leg, rest the upper leg on the top of the mantel.

Vintage Editable Personalized Hanger Kits

Kit includes editable graphic, aprox. 7" high, to be personalized with MS Word. Complete instructions for editing and assembly are included, make as many as you wish from each design. Only additional material required is a small panel of plywood 1/8' to 1/4" thick and a small rectangular piece of MDF or plywood 1/2" thick. Only tools required are a scrollsaw or coping saw and a drill. Just personalize, print, cut out and assemble for a totally unique future heirloom.
