Crochet Edgings

Crochet edges are as versatile as they are beautiful. These free crochet edging patterns can be used to trim clothing or beddings and towels . They can be used in as many applications as your imagination can take you. 1. Soften the look of your terry cloth towels with a lacy scalloped edging. 2. Give your shelves a lift by using double-stick tape to invisibly hang a hand made shelf edging. 3. Add a dainty picot trim to your favorite bed sheets , pillow shams or dust ruffle. 4. Transform an ordinary dish towel or potholder into a country classic with quick and easy ruffled edgings.

Materials: For all edgings: Crochet cotton. Steel crochet hook No 7 or 8.

Narrow Pineapple Edging

Ch 16, in 6th from hook make dc ch 1 and dc, you have just made a v-sp, (ch 2, sk 2 sts dc in nx st) 3 times. ch 2, dc in same st as last dc, turn.

ROW 2 - Ch 3 for dc, 5 more dc under ch 2, ch 3, dc in nx dc, 2 dc in sp, dc in dc, ch 2, v-sp in v-sp turn.

ROW 3 - Ch 5, v in v, ch 2, dc in nx dc, ch 2, sk

2 dc, dc in nx, * ch 4, dc in 1st dc on pine burr, (ch 1, dc in nx dc) 5 times, turn.

ROW 4 - Ch 4 for 1st tr, make a 3 tr cluster in ch 1 sp, (ch 2, cluster in nx sp) 4 more times, ch 3, sc under ch 4 below, ch 3 make a 4 de block as in row 2, ch 2 , v in v, turn.

ROW 5- As 3 to *, ch 5, make cluster between each cluster, ch 2 bt, turn.

ROW 6 - Slst under ch, ch 3 for 1st dc, make cluster, with 3 dc under ch 2, bt each cl, with ch 2 bt cis, ch 4, dc in 3rd of 5 ch, ch 3, make block, ch 2, v in v, turn.

ROW 7 - As 3 to *, ch 3, make 2 dc in the single dc below, with ch 3 bt, ch 5, make cluster of 3 dc, ch 2 bt clusters, turn.

ROW 8 - Slst under 2 ch, ch 3 for 1st dc, cluster of

3 dc, ch 3, sc under 5 ch, ch 3, make 6 dc in ch 2 v-sp, ch 3, make block, ch 2, make v st top, turn, repeat row 3 thru 8. .

Picot at Scallop

A lovely lace about 2 inches wide if made in size 30. Ch 18

ROW 1 - Make dc in 6th from hook dc in nx st - (ch 2, sk 2 sts, dc) 4 times, turn.

ROW 2 - Ch 1, make 2 sc in each space, sc in each dc, 3 sc in last sp at top, turn.

ROW 3 - Ch 6, sk 2 Sc, 2 tr in 2 sc, (ch 2, sk 2 Sc, tr in nx) 4 times, ch 6, * slst in end sc starting row 2, turn.

ROW 4 - Make 10 sc under 6 ch, 2 sc in each sp, sc in each tr to top, 2 sc in top sp, sc in 4th of 6 ch, turn.

ROW 5 - Ch 5, sk 2 sc, 2 dc in 2 sc, (ch 2, sk 2 sc, dc) 4 times, ch 8, make sc in 4th from hook, dc in nx st, 3 tr in 3 sts, tr in tr, (2 tr in sp, tr in sc 4 times, tr in nx tr, ch 2, make tr in 3rd - of 5 ch below - you have now completed row 6 - turn.

ROW 7 - Make as row 1 - turn.

ROW 8 - As row 2, row 9 as row 3 to * slst in end St starting 8 - turn make 4 sc under the 6ch, turn ch 6, make 3 sc in tiny loop at end of solid bar, ch 6, slst in 5th of the 10 sc made in loop of 4th row, turn make 9 sc under last 6 ch made, (ch 4, sc in Sc) 4 times, 9 sc under 6 ch, then 6 more sc in lp where 4 previously made, complete this row of sc to top as in rnd 4, - you now have completed 10 rows, repeat row 5 thru 10, to length desired, to turn corner simply use hdc in at top where dc and tr were used in straight lace, when turning at top ch 3 instead of 5 and 6 - as in straight lace. The last 3 dc or tr as the case may be approaching top - make hdc. Watch picture for number of rows involved in turn corner.

ROW 3 - Turn, ch 4, dc in last dc of pr, dc in nx dc, (ch 5, sk ch 3, dc in lp) * twice, ch 4, sk 2 of ch 4 below, dc in nx St, make 3, ch 1 sps, ch 4, watch picture, make 5 Bps,

ROW 4 - As 2 to *, make 6 sps, ch 4, sk 4 sts, make 3 sps, ch 4, sc in nx lp, ch 5, sc in lp, ch 3, 2 dc - in 2.

ROW 5 - As 3 to * ch 4, sk 2 of ch 4 below make 3 sps, ch 4, make 9 sps.

ROW 6 - As 2 to *, make 10 sps, ch 4, make 3 sps, ch 4, sc in lp below, ch 3, 2 dc in 2.

ROW 7 - As 3 to * ch 4, sk one dc, make 3 sps, ch 4, make 9 sps.

ROW 8 - Turn, ch 4, dc in nx dc, * make 7 more sps, ch 4, watch picture, make 3 sps, ch 4, Sc in nx lp, ch 5, sc in lp, ch 3, 2 dc in 2.

ROW 9 - As 3 to *, ch 5, sc in nx lp, ch 4, make 3 sps, ch 4, make 5 sps.

ROW 10 - As 8 to *, 3 more sps, ch 4, 3 sps, ch 4, Sc in lp below, (ch 5, sc in lp) twice, ch 3, make 2 dc in 2.

ROW 11 - As 3 to *, (ch 5, Sc in 1p) twice, ch 4, make 3 sps, ch 4, make one sp, proceed starting with row 2, to desired length.
