Carmel Apples

What a gooey sweet treat for fall or as a Halloween Party Staple. The simple Carmel Apple can stand alone with just carmel or be partied up with unusal additional toppings!

Carmel Apples

Prepare the Apples- Have the apple cold from the refrigerator. Wash and thoroghly dry the apples. Remove the stems from the apples and insert a craft stick, wooden skewer.

Make your dip: Use a slow cooker to make the carmel dip. Set the temperature to low after the carmel has melted.

5 apples

1 pkg. (340 g) Kraft Caramels

3 Tbsp. water

COOK caramels and water in slow cooker on medium-low heat until caramels are completely melted, stirring constantly.

DIP apples in caramel; spoon additional caramel over apples if necessary to evenly coat apples. Let excess caramel drip off. Scrape bottoms of apples; place on prepared plate. Refrigerate 1 hour.

Toppings can be a pretty and tasty addition to caramel apples. If you'd like to use toppings, don't dip the apples into a bowl of topping though. Instead pour your topping of choice onto a small plate. Then twirl the apple through the topping. This results in a much lighter coating. Some good topping ideas are below:

Melted Chocolate to drizzle on top.

Crackerjack Carmel Apples: peanuts and popcorn.

Apple Pie Carmel Apples: Cinnamon, sugar and granola

Tropical Carmel Apples: Conconut flakes, dried pineapple

Halloween Carmel Apples: Crushed candy corn or cany bars

Turtle Power Carmel Apples: Roll the caramel apple over crushed pecans, then drizzle with chocolate sauce

S'mores: cover with marshmallows and then drizzle with chocolate.

Sprinkles: Use orange and black for a spooktacular carmel apple for Halloween.
