Beach Wedding Attire

Beach weddings are more nature inspired and less formal than church weddings and therefore the wedding attire should reflect that.

The Bride

The wedding gown should be a more informal dress with simple elegant lines or for a touch of romance whimsical soft flowing dresses.

An informal wedding dress looks classy and elegant for your beach wedding, without being too fussy . An informal dress does not have to mean less glamour, it just means glamour in a more simplistic way.

The dress can be a halter dress, sleevless, full length or any length in between. Consider a white linen sarong as a beautiful option .Tulle, organza, linen, and chiffon are good fabric options for beach wedding dresses. Lovely floating layers of soft material would add a touch of elegance and grace to a beach wedding.

Since beach wedding dresses are so informal in most cases, accessories should reflect the style of the dress. Short veils or no veils . A crown of woven flowers with beads is a lovely option for a beach wedding. You may like to wear your hair long and natural with flowers or a flower headband..

If you are wearing an informal wedding dress, you will want to pick informal footwear as well. High heeled pumps in the sand is not that practical.. Many brides go barefoot or with just a simple ballet type slipper. An elegant pair of white and pearl studded flip flops or simple white strappy sandals would work well too.

Beach Wedding Invitations

You can easily make your own Beach Wedding Invitation with a little imagination and few supplies. Keep in mind that a beach wedding is less formal than the church wedding and the spirit and natural elements of the wedding should be reflected throughout the day including your invitations.

Materials Needed:

Graphics Program Or Word Program

Beach Scene or Picture

Card stock white

Contrasting Light Weight Paper

A Translucent Paper or Velum

Hole Punch

Glue Stick

1. Select your graphic you wish to use for the background on your card stock. In a graphics program make your image 5 1/2 "x 4". We want to leave 2" inches at the left side for our ribbon and accent color.

Type your invitation details over top of the graphic and save the image.

You now want to position your image on the right side of a 71/2" by 4 blank document.

Cut your white card stock paper 7 1/2" wide and 4" in length.. Set your printer to the proper settings for your paper and print the white card stock paper. Practice on normal paper first until you get your invitation centered right on the paper. There should be empty space for 2" at the left hand border .

You now want to cut your velum paper the same dimensions as above. You may wish to print on the velum as our couple above have or leave it blank. If you wish to print your names or a wedding quote on the front of the velum follow the same procedure as you did for your background image, making sure that the left border is kept blank for 2". Print your velum.

Now you want to cut your accent paper to wrap around your card. Cut the strip 1 1/2" wide and 8 1/2 inches long .

Cut your ribbon or string about 12 inches long.

Assemble your invitation:

Place the velum on top of the card stock and align it. Wrap the accent paper on the left hand side of your invitation and glue the overlapped edges together at the back.

Use your paper punch and punch 2 holes in the invitation through all layers on the left hand side. Punch holes about 1/4" up from each end.

Thread your ribbon from the back to the front of the card and tie a bow or a knot.

There you have it! A personalized Beach Wedding Invitation.

Beach Wedding Centerpieces

Decorate your tables with simple yet elegant Beach themed centerpieces. These ideas below are very simple and with little time or money you can add a touch of the seashore to your table .

Buy simple sand cast candle holders, many are available at your local dollar store already filled with wax. Set the Candle on a bed of sand or crushed seashells. Decorate the candle holder with raffia and surround it with a few seashells.

Go for a simple arrangement of large and small seashells and a complementary candle to match your wedding colors decorated with a simple beach bead and string. Sit the shells and candles in a bed of sand in the middle of the table. We set ours on a small tray to contain the sand .

Add a shimmer of glamour to your tables. Here we started off with a glass tray and filled it with sand. We placed inexpensive glass candle holders in the sand and filled them half full with crystal rocks (the kind you can get for fish tanks.) Add your small candles and surround them with shells. On the table surrounding the tray scatter the crystal rocks. When the candles are lit, it creates glimmering seaside romance.

Create the allure of the open sea with a clear glass bowl, filled with colored water. Use a little food coloring to color your water. Set the bowl on a tray of sand surrounded by seashells and float a floating candle in the bowl.

Think of the sea and the sand when designing your centerpiece for the tables. Use pieces of driftwood surrounded by your choice of flowers and small candles.

Buy inexpensive children's sand pails and spray paint them to match your wedding colors. Fill them with sand, and decorate them with stenciled seashells. Insert a candle and tie them with raffia.

Inexpensive hurricane lamps sitting on a bed of sand surrounded by small seashell would add a touch of the whimsical to your table.

Small lighthouses, sand cast ornaments and seashell candles all are relatively inexpensive and can be arranged to form a pleasing centerpiece for your tables with little expense.

Beach Wedding Decorations

The following are just a few decorating ideas that would add an extra beachy feel to your wedding.

If you are planning on getting married on the beach , there will be no obvious aisle and if you wish one you can line an imaginary aisle on both sides with driftwood and seashells. If it is an evening wedding you could line the pathway with tiki lights.

Sea shells of various shapes and sizes that you can place all around your reception hall or if outdoors on your tables and serving areas. We used seashells in a lot of our centerpiece ideas. They are inexpensive and add a great touch.

Add pieces of driftwood and flowers to the refreshment area or entrance . Use large pieces of drift wood and wrap tiny twinkle lights around it place in corners or along the outside edge of your reception area.

Make long strings of raffia tied with seashells and hang on the edges of the tables or around your refreshment or guest book areas.

Use inexpensive fishing nets purchased at craft stores to hang on the wall with starfish or seashells trapped in them.

You can use anchors, fishing rope, oars, life rings, buoys placed in corners, or on the walls for decorations.

Consider using a small canoe or blow up raft to hold the wedding gifts it could be decorated with white nets and seashells.

If the reception is to be held outside make sure to add flaming tiki torches around the perimeter of the reception area.
